Oh the 4th of July… a day where we celebrate our independence by stopping by a tent on the side of the road to buy nothing other than sparking fire sticks we hold only a foot away from our face (also known as Sparklers). And of course this also sparks (no pun intended) the turning of children (mostly little boys) into future pyromaniacs (also known as college students)! It is no doubt a day to celebrate!

If it wasn’t obvious by my 2 hour commute on a bus filled with travelers to NYC that I’m not quite the typical commuter and/or New Yorker, let it be known now! Although obsessed with the Empire State from quite a young age, being a “real” girl originally from Indiana anything beyond corn fields can pretty much amaze me. So when asked for the opportunity to intern for a well-known company needless to say I jumped, skipped, and rode my butt into NYC!

As the fashion capital of the world, I thought  it was only appropriate to bring a bit of Reality Chic into the city.

So here are 10 Ways Reality Just Happens to Stick Out!

Let’s face it! The MTV awards aren’t exactly known for being classy. However, you can usually count on a couple things such as… something outrageous… cough… (Christina Aguilera’s outfit) cough again… (Katy Perry’s outfit), something trendy (Jersey Shore, sorry people it won’t last forever), something worth watching (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart), something surprising (Sandra Bullock), and then someone who shines (Whitney Eve Port)!

I’m pretty sure that no matter what your political beliefs are, we can all agree that Michelle Obama’s style is simply stunning. Which to me justifiably counts as bipartisanship.

By now if you’ve read my Profile or About Reality Chic section you know that I’m an unemployed marketing major who just happens to be an aspiring stylist/realistic fashion blogger. And if you have continued to follow me, you most certainly know not much has changed. There for a while there were stints of pity and well…to be blunt …worthlessness. Then soon followed by my many hours of mindless t.v. and of course the morning ritual of 4 consecutive “morning shows” (which I can’t say I’m completely cured of, I just love Regis and Kelly..I mean who doesn’t?)

However, after realizing I’m not the only one in this so-called “pity party” thanks to me checking my twitter status at 11:30 this morning and it reading “Twitter is currently over-capacitated”.  It got me thinking….(please read as if you were surprised) “HEY! I’m not the only one with nothing better to do than play on Twitter at 11:30 in the morning…THERE’S OTHERS”! So after a long thinking process over the past couple months and confirmed today by Twitter. I’ve decided to cheer up! After all I believe there might be a need for some cheering up after the graduation of recent May of 2010 graduates…not to be Debbie Downer or anything. Because there is obviously still hope…really! This all brings me to my title:

It’s just another normal day when you wake up, take off your clothes, put your shoes on, and then head out the door for a morning run. Naturally we all run around town naked with only our shoes on?! Well… at least according to editorial ads like Reebok we do! P.S. You can check out the ad for yourself, but Reality Chic won’t be showing it anytime soon!

Let’s be real! When you’re at a family wedding or have been invited to a family wedding ( and by family wedding I pretty much mean any wedding) people are judging you! It’s kinda like the red carpet of “real life”.

Technically, when attending a wedding you have to get dressed up and then escorted down a long walkway wear everyone is staring at each other while waiting for the wedding to begin. It just happens to be very similar to the star studded roll out carpet that celebrities are escorted on  all while trying to make  their way to the big show.

So what does this mean?!

Being trendy can look fabulous without being outrageous! Take a cue from Katie Quinton who currently lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her off the shoulder dress is from Naaz (a local boutique in New Orleans). She is also wearing nude (a definite yes this season) shoes from Target, earrings from Express, and carrying a clutch from Wal-Mart. It’s when mixing finally met matching!
